Reva Electric CarThe well known small electric car manufacturer REVA Electric Car Company (RECC), sees a big future in its Eco friendly Indian electric car. The Bangalore based manufacture is getting ready to take on the big boys by creating a new manufacturing unit capable of producing 30,000 electric cars annually.

RECC recently announced that it is building a new manufacturing facility for their electric cars in Bangalore that will cost the company $6.1 million and will begin production in the first quarter of 2010.

Green wheels India had covered the Reva before and is eagerly awaiting the Reva NXR. Currently you can drive either the REVA i, that is equipped with lead-acid batteries; it has a nominal range of 80 km per charge and a top speed of 80 km/h.

FERI Electric Golf CarThe other option is the REVA L-ion, equipped with Lithium-ion batteries, faster acceleration and a range of 120 km per charge.

The good news is the company also plans on rolling out a bigger four seater by the end of the year. Most people may have not even heard of the FERI, a golf car manufactured by the same company.

Its funny how we don't see too many REVAs in Mumbai when they are marketed in the United Kingdom, Italy, Malta, Cyprus, Norway, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Japan, Australia, Sri Lanka and also Nepal.
