The Hero Group is a major capitalist in the Indian market, most of us living in India either owned a Hero Cycle or a Hero Honda motorcycle. Hero Electric is the eco friendly branch of the group that is focused on manufacturing electric bikes and scooters.

Hero Electric's bikes can be compared to YoBykes, except that the latter has developed more powerful variants that travel faster and further.

Not wishing to fall far behind Hero Electric has promised to launch seven electric bikes in India this year.

The company plans on launching high speed bikes in the next two months, don't get too excited yet for they mean bikes that can go up to 45 km/h. That's not too bad for a city like Mumbai but in other places in the country it may still not make sense.

Currently Hero Electric has seven electric bikes that are available in the market, the Maxi, Optima, Flash, Advanta, Eazy, Dash and Hi-Moto. Currently the most powerful scooter from Hero Electric is the Maxi, its powered by a 250W Motor, it has a range of 75KM and a top speed of 25KM/H.



Hero Electric still has to go a long way if it want to become the leading electric bike manufacturer, lets see what the company does this year in 2009.
