Scorpio hybrid functioning mechanismThe Mahindra Scorpio hybrid will work powered by both the combustion engine and electric motor simultaneously. Though when the combustion engine powers the vehicle this will help charge the battery during partial load conditions.

The ingenious point to take note off is that part of the brake energy that is usually wasted as heat is recuperated using the e-machine as a generator into battery. If the battery state of charge is lower than the threshold, the combustion engine recharges the battery while idling.

The SUV will is a full parallel hybrid that uses a 30kW electric motor and a 2.3kWh nickel metal hydride battery.
