E-spark, Chevrolet's Electric Spark
The electric car market is really whirring up and now we can really see some concrete plans as major players enter the market. I'm talking about the Chevrolet brand with the launch of the e-spark, the electric spark will perhaps be the first mass produced electric vehicle in the country. But why will this launch make a change? Not that the e-spark is going to be unique since its going to use the Reva's drive train, since the company has not spoken about the battery they are going to use, we can perhaps expect something different here. Apart from of course giving the customers a choice between a Lithium-Ion or a lead acetate battery.

Maruti Goes Green with the EECO Charge
What would a Green car revolution be in India without the countries largest car manufacturer not joining the band wagon? Maruti Suzuki has sold over 96,500 cars in January 2010 in India alone and has displaced its first concept fully electric vehicle, the Eeco Charge at the Auto Expo 2010 held in Delhi. See what Maruti has in store for us on Green Wheels India.

The Oreva Electric Car from Ajanta
There are similarities between a clock and a vehicle, you need an energy source, a motor and then things begin to go round. So Ajanta, the clock manufacturer based in Gujarat perhaps saw the similarities between the two and started not just selling ordinary cars and bikes but electric ones under the Oreva brand name.
The Oreva e-bike has been available in local states for quite a while, its a no license required bike, that means its powered by a 250 watt motor and doesn't go more than 25 KM per hour. Perhaps that is not a fascinating as the companies plan for the Oreva car that they are slated to launch shortly.

Maruti Working on Hybrid & Electric Cars
When India's most selling car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki thinks green, you can imagine a quantum shift in the automobile industry and a blessing to the environment. Though its a long term plan where the company expects to have its range of CNG hybrids an electric vehicles on road in the next three to five years, its a move many would be waiting for.
Shinzo Nakanishi, MD, Maruti Suzuki, spoke about the possibility of launching electric cars in the future, “We are developing electric car technology for India."

The Electric Tata Indica
The Tatas managed to create hype with the launch of the vista, but somehow I feel that electric cars have an inborn hype, super acceleration possibilities, cheap fuel, protecting the environment and things like this that make it interesting in its own way. When I heard of the Tata Indica Electric I was happy, although I do not think of TATA Motors highly after the Tata Nano in Singur episode but to know that they already have a prototype of the Indica Electric out is delightful.

Honda Civic, India's First Hybrid Car
The Honda Civic was launched early this June at a price tag of 21.5 lakhs, the hefty price tag saw the company selling only 60 units across the country in a time frame of a couple of months. This forced the company to reconsider their pricing strategy to get rid of the existing stock that was imported from Japan as a Complete Build-up Unit (CBU), thus attracting an import tax of 114% by the Government of India. It's sad that the government has failed to be proactive in terms of helping bringing greener technology to a country where the pollution limits are out of control.
