Imported Ebikes Hampering Market Growth?

Have you considered buying an electric scooter or electric bike, there are a few things you need to consider prior to picking one up. The Society of Manufacturers of Electric Vehicles (SMEV) has recommended the government in a bid to discourage importing e-bikes and help increase production in the country.

According to the SMEV, there are quite a few un organized players who are importing inferior quality bikes and to add to it the Automotive Resarch Association of India, that checks if a vehicle is road worthy does not have the right regulations and tests in place for electric bikes

Hero Electric : E-Bikes from the Hero Group

The Hero Group is a major capitalist in the Indian market, most of us living in India either owned a Hero Cycle or a Hero Honda motorcycle. Hero Electric is the eco friendly branch of the group that is focused on manufacturing electric bikes and scooters.

Hero Electric's bikes can be compared to YoBykes, except that the latter has developed more powerful variants that travel faster and further. Not wishing to fall far behind Hero Electric has promised to launch seven electric bikes in India this year.

YoBykes India's Electric Two Wheelers

Indus Elec-trans first launched the yo bykes in 2006, since then the company has seen that the masses are ready to go electric.

After making record sales year on year and seeing an increase in revenue the company plans a variety of exciting products in the electric and hybrid section in India.

Yo bykes started off with the Yo Tuff a cycle fitted with a 200 watt electric motor that was limited to 25 km/h so that it would not require registration or a license. It could carry a maximum weight of 75 Kg and had a maximum range of 50 KM.
